Kansas City, MO - infoZine - The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department announced that its facility and grounds, located at 2400 Troost Ave., will become a smoke-free campus, effective July 1. This includes the Health Department parking lots and the lawn from Troost Avenue to Campbell Avenue on 24th Street and from 24th Street to 24th Terrace on Campbell Avenue.

"The interior of the facility has long been a non-smoking area, but the time has come to be totally smoke free," said Dr. Rex Archer, director of the Health Department. "The health of our guests and our employees is a major concern. The ill effects of smoking and second hand smoke are well documented. We need to continue efforts to reduce the exposure. We are doing our part to make Kansas City a healthier place to live, work, and play."

More information on the smoking policy is available on the Health Department Web site, www.kcmo.org/health, at the "What's new at the Health Department?" link.
