ST. LOUIS MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) - The City about to snuff out cigarettes with a smoking ban. Right now the bill is still in committee. Today fire works erupted when one bar owner believed his voice wasn't being heard.

A potential smoking ban for St.Louis City got some opponents steamed during this third session of testimony. Opponents like Joe Finn co-owner of Pat's Bar and Grill in South City told me a smoking ban would likely cut his business by 10% may force him to lay off workers. If the bill becomes law casinos should not be exempt.

"How did casinos get exempt? if it's bad to be around second hand smoke and they're worried about our health, how are they going to exempt the casinos." Joe Finn - Bar Owner

Supporters of the measure argued emplyees have a right to a smoke free environment. Bill sponsor Lyda Krewson believes she has the votes for the measure to get out of committee.

"Many other cities and municipalities in saint louis are also considering going smoke free." Lyda Krewson - Bill Sponsor

The testimony is now over but the bill won't be voted on until September when summer recess is over.
